Planning & Proposals
Clarifying goals, developing recommendations, establishing priorities, and tailoring project scopes and deliverables.

A thoughtful renovation or project begins with seeing what a space could become. Bringing it to life takes experience, coordination, and someone who cares about the details—where scale, perspective, and proportion matter.
Request a Call with Carmine ↗I’m Carmine Bruno. Since 1978, my work has brought together design, property improvement, and project management—from major city properties to private homes and cherished historic community places.
Today, I work directly with local clients, bringing an artist’s eye, an experienced hand, and personal attention to projects close to home.
My approach to design starts with observation: the proportions of a room, the relationship between spaces, the character of a building, and the way people use and experience them.
With a practiced eye and pencil in hand, I develop concepts through freehand drawing. I can look at an existing space, envision possibilities, and translate those ideas into sketches we can explore and refine together.
My grounding in classical architecture informs an appreciation for balance, proportion, and craftsmanship. That perspective carries into contemporary spaces, too—whether we’re rethinking a home’s interior, considering an addition, or finding a thoughtful way to improve an older property.
Drawing is both an art and a way of solving problems. It makes an idea tangible and helps us discover how a space could work better.
A good idea needs a practical path forward. Project management is at the heart of APM: defining the work, bringing the right people together, and staying attentive as the project progresses.
Clarifying goals, developing recommendations, establishing priorities, and tailoring project scopes and deliverables.
Working with contractors, companies, and specialists to coordinate responsibilities, schedules, and communication.
Tracking project costs, reviewing proposals, managing invoices, and keeping supporting information organized.
Developing hand-drawn concepts, exploring layouts, and helping clients consider how spaces can look, feel, and function.
Visiting the site, reviewing progress, addressing issues with the project team, and following through within our agreed scope.
Where licensed architectural, engineering, or other specialist services are required, I help coordinate those professionals as part of the project team.

An artist’s eye.
An experienced hand.
Personal attention.
I graduated in 1978 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, an internationally recognized institution for art, architecture, and design.
My career began in architecture firms and continued through decades working for major insurance companies, with international responsibilities across the northeastern United States and Canada. I helped plan and oversee development, rehabilitation, restoration, and redesign work at major city properties, including a landmark property encompassing approximately 1.7 million square feet.
Later, as a VP / Director of Real Estate, I managed a varied portfolio of buildings and grounds, including a 162-acre residential and health care campus.
My residential experience includes developing the design for my own contemporary home and managing its construction, along with substantial home renovations and interior reconfigurations.
Today, I bring that breadth of experience to private homeowners, municipalities, historical societies, and local organizations. My work ranges from residential improvements to historic building rehabilitation, community parks, and landscape projects, coordinating with contractors, technical specialists, municipalities, and other public agencies as needed.
APM is my independent practice. You work directly with me—from our first conversation through the responsibilities we agree upon.
I enjoy getting to know the people behind a project: what matters to them, what they hope to accomplish, and what makes their property unique and special.
Thoughtful stewardship means respecting that connection—caring for what is already there while helping shape improvements that serve people well for years to come.
I work in Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Marshfield, Norwell, Scituate, and neighboring South Shore communities. I take on a limited number of assignments so I can give each project my personal time and attention.
Whether you need help exploring an idea or coordinating a more involved improvement, I bring the same care, curiosity, and enthusiasm to the work.
Have a space you’d like to rethink? A building that needs attention? A project that could use an experienced hand?
Let’s talk about what you have in mind.
I’ll review your message, then get in touch to learn more about your project and your priorities. I look forward to exploring how I might help.
